I’ve had intense left hip and leg pain (sciatica) intermittently since last October. I had a L5-S1 spinal injection in April that gave me complete relief for 3 weeks, but the pain gradually returned. The last two months have been nearly unbearable at times, as the agony became worse than ever before – Thursday night was the very worse. Yesterday afternoon, I had another injection and have ZERO pain today! I feel as if I’ve been toting a gunny sack of rocks and have now finally been able to lay it down.
Often I stand before a judge or jury representing an injured person and have difficulty finding the words to convey my client’s struggle. It’s very hard to explain to someone who has never experienced daily pain just how life altering it is. It’s even more exasperating to persuade that jury or judge to then fairly compensate my client, because they simply can’t understand.
So today I’m thankful for two things, to wit: It is fabulous to sit here at my office without pain, because everything seems much brighter and more clear. More importantly, I’m thankful for having had the pain, because I now feel much better able to stand up for my clients.
